ated to and about \nstudents has serious implications for their success.
The offhand remark to a \nstudent or parent about the community in which
she lives\; the way \ngroups—based on race\, “culture\,” and income
—are discussed in faculty \nmeetings about test scores and data\; the a
ssumptions and communication \nbreakdowns between counselors and teachers
that cause kids to fall needlessly \nthrough the cracks\; or the deflati
ng comment to a young person about his \ncollege prospects: all these wor
ds have tremendous power. They are\, in fact\, \nactions that undermine e
fforts to maximize the potential and talent of all \nstudents\, every day

organizational \nreflection via common scenarios\, and be provided with s
uggestions for \nconcrete actions\, as well as valuable resources for mat
ching their speech to \ntheir values. Learning experiences in this worksh
op are designed to empower \nteachers\, administrators and support staff
who work with young people in our \nschools to foster more student and sc
hool success and more equitable student \noutcomes.\n\n*REGISTER FOR FREE
