The American Federation of Teachers has a responsibility to provide a safe work/meeting environment that is free of known hazards. To this end, the AFT has established extensive protocols in this age of COVID-19 for a safe in-person meeting environment that includes vaccination, testing for our headquarters building and for our meeting spaces, masking and distancing. We intentionally utilize sites that have good ventilation and cleaning protocols. We believe our collective responsibility to each other’s well-being, safety and health is best served by ensuring that everyone who attends AFT meetings is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and show proof of vaccination to attend AFT’s Summer Educator Academy. In addition, you will be required to take a self-administered COVID-19 antigen test (provided by the AFT) on the first day (and every 3 days) of the training and take a daily self-assessment to ensure you are feeling well and can attend the training.
*Proof of vaccine is required to be uploaded during registration.
All in-person attendees will need to comply with our COVID safety precautions and guidelines:
AFT is a fully vaccinated building. In-person attendees must upload proof of full vaccination during registration to attend any AFT event and follow AFT COVID policies regardless of location of event.
Please allow 15 to 30 minutes upon arrival to take a self-administered rapid antigen test, provided by AFT. A negative result is required to attend class.
A picture of the result either emailed or texted is required before entering your classroom. More details will be forthcoming.
Testing is required on the 1st day (July 19, 20, 24 or 25) and 1 or 2 more days of the training. Schedule is in the Safety Protocol document.
Approved unvaccinated participants must test every day.
