You must complete and submit the Travel Form to finalize your registration.

When completing your travel form, your name should be the same as it appears on your driver’s license or other legal documents.
Air: Your ticket will be electronic. An itinerary and passenger receipt will be sent to the registrant via e-mail. The itinerary should be reviewed upon receipt; if it is not correct, please contact the AFT immediately.
Train: Amtrak train tickets will be sent via e-mail. The train stops at the BWI Rail Station.
Ground Transportation: At BWI, you can locate a cab for the short ride to the Maritime Conference Center (approximate cost: $12) or you can call for the Maritime Shuttle Service at 410-859-5700.
Driving: Participants who live close by are encouraged to drive. (Please note on your travel form.) If your trip requires a night’s lodging, the AFT cannot pay the cost of the hotel. If the mileage costs (.625 cents per mile) exceed the cost of the lowest airfare available, the AFT can only reimburse you the amount of the airfare.
Housing Information
Room Arrangements
During registration, a room will be reserved for you at the Maritime Conference Center, 692 Maritime Blvd., Linthicum Heights, Maryland according to your course dates. Participants will have a single room unless a shared room is requested.
Due to the limited space at the Maritime Conference Center we have contracted for extra rooms at the Holiday Inn, 1510 Aero Dr, Linthicum Heights, MD 21090 which is within walking distance at .4 miles away from the Maritime. Those who are staying at the Holiday Inn will follow all protocols as if staying at the Maritime Conference Center.
Guest information
Participants who bring a guest are required to pay the difference between a single and double room which is $45 PER DAY ($360 if arriving on July 20). This fee includes breakfast and dinner for the guest and is a mandatory fee due to the Maritime upon check-in. Optional lunch fee of $20 may be paid on the days guest opts for lunch.
Americans with Disabilities Act
The AFT will make every effort to ensure that accommodations at the Maritime Conference Center are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. If a Summer Educator Academy participant anticipates a special need ensuing from a disability, the participant should contact Karen Zook at 202-879-4476 or [email protected] by July 5. AFT will attempt to accommodate any special needs to ensure that attendees may fully participate in Summer Educator Academy activities.
