AFT COVID-19 PROTOCOLS

You should have received the Welcome Email with specific details on COVID protocols and procedures when you arrive in Washington DC for the training January 28-30, 2022.

The American Federation of Teachers has a responsibility to provide a safe work/meeting environment that is free of known hazards. To this end, the AFT has established extensive protocols in this age of COVID-19 for a safe in-person meeting environment that includes vaccination, testing for our headquarters building and for our meeting spaces, masking and distancing. We intentionally utilize sites that have good ventilation and cleaning protocols. We believe our collective responsibility to each other’s well-being, safety and health is best served by ensuring that everyone who attends AFT meetings is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and show proof of vaccination to attend AFT’s Winter Educator Academy. In addition, you will be required to take a self-administered COVID-19 antigen test (provided by the AFT) on the first day of the training, and take a daily self-assessment to ensure you are feeling well and can attend the training. More detailed information will be sent to you that will include links to upload your proof of vaccination and the link to the daily self-assessment.

*Proof of vaccine is required to be uploaded during registration.

All in-person attendees will need to comply with our COVID safety precautions and guidelines:

  • AFT is a fully vaccinated building. In-person attendees must upload proof of full vaccination during registration to attend.
  • Please allow 15 to 30 minutes upon arrival to take a self-administered rapid antigen test, provided by AFT. A negative result is required.
  • A daily symptom checker must be completed before you enter the building each day.
  • A mask must be worn at all times at AFT except when you are actively eating or drinking.
